Today Epica Book 23 arrived at the agency. On page 253 in the category “Prescription products” you can see our ad series for Sectra RIS/PACS. Something tells me that page will be well thumbed, at least here at the agency.

The Epica awards have become the reference for creative achievement in Europe. During 2009/10, 3 196 contributions were sent in from 476 agencies, photographers and TV and web production companies in 48 countries. About 900 contributions are then chosen and published.

Every so often a new word comes along that takes every conference room by storm. Proactive is a recent example. There’s hardly an office canteen not packed with earnest-looking people imploring each other – and everybody within earshot – to be proactive. It doesn’t seem to matter what you say (or write) as long as it contains the magic word.

Nynas decided to depart from the clichés and explore what proactivity really means (not a bad idea, given that it’s one of the company’s core values). So they invited key staff to a conference to do just that. Our job was to get everyone in a ‘proactive’ mood before the event. Because anticipation is a key component of proactivity, we designed an e-mail invitation and suggested a kit with the following potentially useful items:

• tie and mascara (you never know when you need to look your best)
• marshmallows (unbeknown to the invitees, there was a ‘marshmallow activity’ planned for the conference)
• ear-plugs (in case your neighbour’s raucous revelry disturbs your sleep)

Apparently, the conference was a success and the kit was appreciated. Being fairly proactive ourselves, we had, of course, already anticipated that.

Competition in industrial pneumatics is cut-throat. But Parker Hannifin has made up its mind – within a couple of years they are going to be one of the top three preferred suppliers of pneumatics.

With an extended offering of more products, more services and more distributors, the first steps have already been taken. Add to that a big campaign (developed by Sandberg Trygg) that was launched a few weeks ago. Core values often only get so far as an internal document. But not at Modul-System, one of Europe’s leading manufacturer of racking systems for light service vehicles. A while ago they asked us to help them highlight their core values. It all ended with us turning these values into a film.

The film has several levels. On the surface you are taken on a journey that reveals each core value. But then you can always click to dig deeper into the details. The film will be used in several contexts, such as at trade fairs, on sales visits, as an introduction to new employees and, of course, on the web.

Automotive Sweden (a business area within Business Region Göteborg) is an independent organisation that spreads knowledge of the Swedish automotive business to stimulate cooperation and growth. A steadily increasing number of website visitors – and an automotive business in crisis – spurred Automotive Sweden to make their site clearer and more attractive. NDC Suite from Kollmorgen is a collection of tools for building control systems for driverless forklifts. It includes software and hardware, and services ranging from design to upgrades. As part of the work to support sales visits, Sandberg Trygg has produced a brochure and website that describe the NDC Suite. The aim is to get more forklift manufacturers buying control systems from Kollmorgen instead of using systems developed in-house.

At the recent 9th European Peritoneal Dialysis (EuroPD) conference in Strasbourg, France, Sandberg Trygg helped Gambro present the latest and strengthened scientific evidence for their peritoneal dialysis offering.

“The attendees are specialist doctors, leading experts in their field. Of course, the hard scientific basis for Gambro’s market communication is what’s most important to them”, explains Simon Copley, the copywriter on the project. “We turned that to our advantage. And made the science the real star of the film and the brochures at the Gambro booth.”

You probably know that washing your hands is a good way to stay healthy. The reason is simple: germs are most commonly spread through touch. However, as the team working with SCA Tork found out, washing is only half the story. The other half is drying them. And there’s only way to dry your hands properly, while also wiping them free of germs. With a disposable paper towel. Well, we hear you say, that’s hardly surprising since Tork want to sell as many paper towels as they possibly can. Any suspicions we may have had were soon put to rest once we’d seen (and actually read selected passages from) several hefty university studies supporting the claim. One thing’s certain, none of us will ever use a warm air dryer again.

Anyway, back to Tork. Our assignment was to put together two educational packages – one for the workplace and one for schools. The theme was the same for both: Wash after Wipe. The aim is to educate as many people as possible about the importance of good hand hygiene. Campaign material for the workplace included a folder, poster, mirror clings for washrooms, campaign website, internet banners and info sheets. For the schools, we decided to harness the students’ creativity by asking them to enter a competition: best redesign of a mirror cling wins a trip for the whole class. The competition was complemented by leaflet, poster and campaign website.
